Tawa-tawa, Euphorbia hirta

Locally known as tawa-tawa in Bohol, Philippines. This is a slender-stemmed, annual hairy plant with many branches from the base to the top, spreading up to 40 cms tall, reddish or purplish in color. Leaves are opposite, elliptic-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, distichoous, 1 to 2.5 cms long, blotched with purple in the middle, toothed at the edge. Involucres ^[2]

gallic acid, quercetin, triacontane, cetyl alcohol, phytosterin, phytosterolin; jambulol, melissic, palmitic, oleic, inoleic acid, alkaloids, essential oil, phenols, sterol, flavones, fatty acids. and Flavonoids: euphorbianin, eucocyanidol, camphol, quercitrin and quercitrol^[2]

Wild Gecko in Songculan, Dauis, Bohol, Hemidactylus frenatus.

 

 

                                                                             A tropical gecko locally know as TUKO, Hemidactylus frenatus thrives in warm, humid areas where it can crawl around on rotting wood in search of the insects it eats. The animal is very adaptable and may prey on insects and spiders, displacing other reptiles.
